In Memoriam

My Father

Robert Stoll

1934 - 1988

My father was stern to say the least, as least while I and my siblings were being raised, once he became a grandfather that changed. I can remember my dad always tinkering in his garage or shed for hours. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. I don't think he ever got over the fact his own mother died while he was quite young. He was from a large family and he was the youngest. more to come....

My Mother

Marie Stoll

1944 - 2009

Just writing this about my Mom, makes me tear up and quite emotional. As much as I loved everyone that has passed, no one more than my Mom. The wound is so very fresh and I can not honestly write the loss I still feel to this day. Maybe in time I will write more, but for right now, I will just say "I MISS YOU MOM and I LOVE YOU DEARLY"

My Grandmother

Johanna Stoll

1892 - 1943

Johanna is my paternal grandmother, as with my paternal grandfather, I never met her as she passed away many years before I was born. I don't know much about her, other than she was married to another man before my grandfather.

My Grandfather

Frederick Stoll

1885 - 1963

I am named after my paternal grandfather, he passed away a few months before I was born. I have heard many stories about him while growing up. His family was originally from Germany, but at some point migrated to Russia, I believe it was while "Catherine The Great" was ruling Russia. My grandfather came to the US around 1912. This would explain why he had a strong accent. I heard he was a stern man, enjoyed playing cards. He was a farmer and later on a businessman. He owned several bars in Saginaw County, which still exist today, although under different owners and names. He was married twice and was widowed both times.

My Friend

Ken Blackledge

1952 - 2009

To describe Ken in a few words, I would have to use the words "He was real", he wasn't fake or phony. He didn't put on a show for anyone. I only knew Ken for a short time, but in that time he became one of my closest friends. He was always willing to lend a ear and to help anyone. If you asked any of his friends, I am sure they would tell you the same thing. Ken would open his heart and home to everyone and I mean that literally, the stories I could tell. When my mom was in the hospital and I was having a hard time dealing with the situation, it was Ken that I would talk too. I never imagined in a million years that I would loose my mom and Ken a week apart.

My Friend

Floyd Wilke

1956 - 1995

I met Floyd when I was nine years old, he lived across the street from us. Floyd was developmentally disabled. He would be riding his bike up and down the street, acting like he was Captian Kirk from Star Trek. Floyd was always doing impersonations of famous people, and some of them were down right very good. He would help anyone and sometimes that caused him problems, because some people would take advantage of him. After my children were born, he would always read stories to them, until they fell asleep. My children, especially my son Bryan till this day gets emotional every time we talk about Flolyd, he was Floyd's "Little Buddy". Floyd was hit and killed by an automobile in 1995 as he was crossing the road, he was only 39 years old. When I came across a photo of him, or someone mentions him I am reminded of all the good memories we shared.

My Grandmother

Lillian Boos

1923 - 2002

The only biological grandparent that I actually knew, was my maternal grandmother Lillian. She was a quiet person, unless someone made her upset, then she could get quite "to the point". I remember she was a good cook and wasn't someone into much non-sense.

My Father in Law

Raymond Krotzer

1943 - 1995

My father in law and I didn't agree on many things, as is the case with many in-law relationships, but I can say without a doubt he was a no non-sense hard working man. My best memories of him are playing "Pepper" card game, which he enjoyed playing. He died in 1995, the same year as my friend Floyd.
